Design Assignment for a Children’s Art Easel
GCSE Technology & Design Coursework Assignment
The brief for this project was to conceptualise and finalise an idea for a children’s art easel which is compact, sits on a tabletop and is easy to assemble for the user.
The main purpose for this product is to facilitate the activities which stimulate the part of the brain responsible for the development of observation and imagination skills in children. Please see below for the evolution of the concepts until a final design was reached.
The main skills developed throughout this project were: to turn a design brief into a list of requirements, :
turning a design brief into a list of functional and usability requirements
researching the market for alternative products that solve similar issues
producing high quality sketches that convey to the audience how the product will operate
ranking and selecting the most suitable features from each concept to finalise the design
